Refund policy
Returns & Right of Withdrawal
We offer a 14-day return period for eligible consumer purchases. The legal basis, refund of delivery costs and return-cost rules depend on the customer's country. Nothing in this policy limits mandatory consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
European Union consumers
Where the statutory right of withdrawal applies to an online purchase, you generally have 14 days from delivery to notify us that you are withdrawing from the contract. After notifying us, the goods must be returned without undue delay and within the period required by applicable law.
For a valid statutory withdrawal, we refund the purchase price and the cost of the least expensive standard outbound delivery option offered for the order. Any additional cost for express, pallet, white-glove or other upgraded delivery is not refundable beyond the standard-delivery amount. The direct cost of returning the goods is borne by the buyer where permitted by law and where this was disclosed before purchase. For large or bulky goods that cannot normally be returned by post, an estimate of the direct return cost must be provided before the order is concluded where required by law.
United Kingdom consumers
For qualifying distance purchases, UK consumers generally have 14 days after delivery to tell us they wish to cancel and a further 14 days to return the goods. For a valid statutory cancellation, the standard outbound delivery charge is refunded; any additional premium-delivery amount is not. Direct return costs are borne by the buyer where permitted and where the required pre-contract information was provided.
Customers outside the EU and UK
For eligible consumer purchases outside the EU and UK, we offer a commercial 14-day return period from delivery. Unless mandatory local law requires otherwise, the buyer bears the return-shipping cost and any return-related customs, duties or brokerage charges, and original international outbound shipping is not refundable for a change-of-mind return. Any mandatory consumer rights in the customer's country remain unaffected.
Condition of returned objects
Our collection consists largely of unique, pre-owned and antique objects. You may inspect an object as you reasonably would in a physical gallery. Handling beyond what is necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and condition may result in diminished value for which a deduction may be made where permitted by law.
Exceptions
Exceptions to a right of withdrawal or return apply only where permitted by applicable law, for example for genuinely made-to-order or personalised goods. A reduced, negotiated or sale price does not by itself remove a consumer's statutory rights.
Damaged, defective or incorrect deliveries
Transport damage, a defective item, a wrong item or an object that is materially different from its description is handled separately from a change-of-mind return. Please contact us as soon as possible, preferably within 48 hours of delivery, and provide clear photographs of the object, packaging and shipping label. The 48-hour request assists carrier and insurance claims and does not reduce mandatory statutory rights.
Where the issue is attributable to us or the carrier, we will arrange an appropriate remedy and bear reasonable return-shipping costs as required by applicable law.
How to arrange a return
Before sending an object, contact sales@1stbuddha.com for the correct return instructions and address. High-value, heavy and fragile objects should not be sent without suitable packing, tracking and transport arrangements.
Refund timing
Refunds are issued to the original payment method unless otherwise agreed. Timing, and any right to withhold reimbursement until the goods or evidence of return have been received, will follow applicable law.
