A covered censer combining archaic bronze form and Qing enamel work
This 19th-century Chinese vessel borrows the three-legged silhouette of an ancient ding, then turns it into a richly decorative Qing object. Animal masks terminate the legs, coloured floral cloisonné circles the body and a seated Buddhist lion crowns the lid.
The contrast between patterned bronze and enamel gives the piece more visual density than a plain tripod censer of similar size.
