Jara Marzulli – Occhio Virtuoso (2010) | Photorealistic Figurative Painting
This is one of the few remaining works by the Italian artist Jara Marzulli that we were able to acquire directly from her. A special piece, not only because of its provenance, but above all because of the exceptional quality of execution.
It is almost inconceivable that this is oil on canvas – the precision and detailing give the work an almost photographic appearance. It is precisely that contrast between technique and emotion that makes this painting so powerful. The two naked women take center stage and together form an intense, almost uncomfortable interaction. The bound hair and the needle allude to themes such as connection, control, and vulnerability. The work touches upon female identity without idealization – pure, direct, and confrontational. A work that is not only looked at, but lingers. Strong, distinctive, and suitable for a serious collector or enthusiast of contemporary figurative art.
