Pixiu as Guardians
This monumental pair represents Pixiu, mythical Chinese guardian creatures traditionally associated with protection, prosperity and wealth. Both animals stand firmly on four legs with open jaws, pronounced manes, wing-like forms and curling tails.
Bronze and Cloisonné
The heavy bronze bodies are richly decorated with cloisonné enamel in floral and geometric patterns. Traces of gilding and glass inlay remain visible in places. The combination of substantial casting, enamel and decorative finishing gives the pair a strongly monumental presence.
Surface and Condition
The surfaces show old patina, oxidation, wear and craquelure in parts of the enamel. Small losses and age-related marks are present and consistent with the scale and age of the figures.
Each object is examined before it is offered: material, casting or carving technique, surface, and signs of age are compared with documented references. You will receive a certificate of authenticity and an official invoice detailing the period, material, and available provenance.
