A matched pair rather than identical copies
These two standing Buddha figures were clearly conceived within the same Sri Lankan Theravada tradition. Each raises the right hand in Abhaya mudra and gathers the robe at the opposite shoulder. The tall flame finials, narrow proportions and densely incised robe folds give the pair a strong shared visual rhythm.
Closer inspection shows that they were not simply duplicated from one pattern. The faces, hand modelling, proportions and arrangement of the folds vary subtly from one carving to the other. Those differences make the group more convincing as a companion pair of individually carved devotional figures.

Surface and condition
The deep brown-black finish has worn naturally across fingers, robe ridges and other raised areas, revealing warmer timber beneath. The two figures show slightly different patterns of handling and age wear, consistent with separately carved objects that have remained together. One base retains part of an old paper label. Both figures remain visually complete with the expected minor surface irregularities of older devotional carvings.
Each object is examined before it is offered: material, casting or carving technique, surface, and signs of age are compared with documented references. You will receive a certificate of authenticity and an official invoice detailing the period, material, and available provenance.
