Rare Bronze Shiva Nataraja from Ladakh – Himalayan Style – 33.5 cm – 1.8 kg

Antique Bronze Shiva Nataraja – Ladakh / Western Himalayas

This impressive bronze sculpture of Shiva Nataraja originates from Ladakh and is executed in the traditional Himalayan style. The statue depicts the classical cosmic dance of Shiva with a rare expressiveness typical of Western Himalayan art. With a height of 33.5 cm and a weight of 1.8 kg, this is a substantial object with a powerful spiritual aura.

Iconography and Symbolism

Shiva is depicted amidst the Ananda Tandava, surrounded by a richly decorated halo of flames (Prabhamandala). He is adorned with fine ornaments, and his sashes flow dynamically with his movement. Under his foot, he subdues Apasmara, the dwarf of ignorance. The combination of the classic Indian form with Himalayan influences makes this piece particularly interesting for collectors.

Craftsmanship

The statue was crafted using the manual casting method, resulting in a unique character and small variations that emphasize its authenticity. The warm bronze patina has developed beautifully over the years. This statue is an excellent focal point for a meditation room or as part of a collection of Asian art.
