This large wooden statue depicts Guanyin, the bodhisattva of compassion who is one of the most beloved spiritual figures in the Chinese Buddhist tradition. The figure stands peacefully with hands in front of the body, a posture that symbolizes tranquility, protection, and compassion.

The statue is carved from wood and was originally fully painted with mineral pigments. Clear remnants of white, red, and dark paint are still visible on the surface. Over the years, the paint layer has partially worn away, creating fine crackle patterns that give the statue an authentic temple appearance.

The long drapes fall naturally along the body and clearly show the hand-carved character of the statue. The serene face and soft proportions fit the traditional Chinese depiction of Guanyin as a calm and protective presence. With a height of 80 cm, this statue has a strong vertical presence and forms an impressive object in an interior, meditation space, or collection of Asian art.
