Shakyamuni Buddha
Vintage Ritual Thangka – 1970s (76 × 54 cm)
Bring an authentic, spiritual atmosphere into your interior. This impressive vintage Thangka from the 1970s combines beautiful craftsmanship with a palpable, ritual history.
At 1stbuddha, we do not sell decoration, but heritage.
A Statement Piece with Character
Centered on this generous canvas rests Shakyamuni Buddha in the earth-touching posture (Bhumisparsha mudra). What makes this piece so visually exceptionally attractive is the masterful 'antiquing' finish. The studio deliberately gave this Thangka a deep, weathered patina in the 1970s. As a result, the canvas exudes the mystique of an ancient temple piece, making it a stunning eye-catcher in a sleek, modern, or Wabi-Sabi interior.
More than Decoration: Ritually Initiated
This is no ordinary wall decoration; it is a carrier of positive energy. On the reverse side lies the ultimate proof of its spiritual origin: a hand-painted Endless Knot (Srivatsa) in red ink, accompanied by the sacred initiation syllables (OM AH HUM). This confirms that the canvas was blessed by a lama for devotion at the time, giving this vintage artwork an authentic soul.
The 1stbuddha Guarantee
Where similar pieces are often mistakenly sold as 'antiques' elsewhere, 1stbuddha opts for absolute transparency. Our analysis of the textiles and pigments confirms the vintage dating (circa 1970). You get the unsurpassed antique look & feel and an actual ritual consecration, for a fair and accessible price. A rare opportunity to add a large, characterful Buddhist artwork to your collection.
