Thai Carved Wooden Buddha Head, Blue and Gold

A Thai Buddha head carved as a flat panel. A blue band crosses the forehead, gold picks out the curls, and the lips and the dot on the brow are red. Set on a cabinet or shelf, it reads at a glance: 39 cm tall, in cream and black.

Description

The eyes are closed and the earlobes are long. The back is flat and painted black, and the edge is neatly finished. Wear shows in the paintwork, with black coming through in the grooves and gold on the band. The head is carved from wood and finished with paint and gold leaf.
