This collection is defined by price: it brings together Buddha statues priced above €500 and below €2,000. It should therefore be read as a mid-range collector selection, not as a separate grade of “authenticity”. Age, origin, material and condition are catalogued individually for every object.
The group spans a wide range of Asian sculptural traditions, including bronze, wood, stone, lacquer and gilt works from Southeast Asia, the Himalayas and China. A later but finely made devotional bronze may appear beside an older wooden temple image; the shared feature is the price bracket, not a single period or school.
What determines the price?
Scale, rarity, dating, material, condition, quality of modelling, documented provenance and market demand all influence value. Price alone is not evidence of age. Equally, a smaller or less fashionable object can be historically interesting while remaining below the level of a major high-value work.
For new collectors, this range often offers substantial objects with enough technical and stylistic detail to study seriously: casting structure, old gilding, lacquer, carved surfaces, mudra, robe treatment, pedestal and regional modelling can all be compared across traditions.
